Foundations: The Personal Shopper’s Role & Skillset
This foundational module introduces you to the world of professional styling and personal shopping. We'll begin by defining the role of a personal shopper and the key differences between the two main specializations: fashion and interiors. You'll learn how to start training your "stylist's eye" to discern quality and understand the critical balance between fleeting trends and timeless principles. We'll then dive into the core technical theories that govern all good design: color theory for wardrobes and rooms, and the principles of silhouette, scale, and proportion as they apply to both the human body and physical spaces. Finally, we'll outline the essential tools of the trade, from digital mood boards to tape measures, that you'll use to communicate your vision.

Mastering the Client Consultation
This module is the heart of your business. A successful styling career is built not on "good taste" alone, but on the ability to translate that taste into a service that solves a client's problem. The consultation is your primary diagnostic tool. You will learn how to go beyond "what do you like?" and master active listening, understand the psychology behind a client's request, and use a professional intake form to gather critical data. We'll cover how to define the project's scope and goals, and—most importantly—how to have the money conversation comfortably, setting clear budgets and expectations from the start.

Specialization: Fashion & Wardrobe Styling
This module is your deep dive into the most common specialization: fashion and wardrobe styling. You will learn the practical, hands-on skills to transform a client's relationship with their clothes. We'll start by learning how to analyze and style different body types, using clothing to create balance and flattering silhouettes. Then, you'll learn the step-by-step process for one of the most valuable services you can offer: the Closet Audit, including the "Keep, Tailor, Donate, Toss" method. You'll learn how to use the results of the audit to build a functional capsule wardrobe for your client. We'll cover the art of sourcing—shopping online, in boutiques, and vintage—and how to identify fabric quality and fit. Finally, we'll cover the specifics of event styling for special occasions.

Specialization: Interior Styling & Sourcing
This module is a deep dive into the second major specialization: interior styling. You will learn the visual language of interior design, starting with how to identify key design styles (from Mid-Century Modern to Scandinavian). You'll then learn the technical principles of spatial awareness, including basic furniture layout and creating "flow." We'll cover the art and logistics of sourcing everything: furniture, art, textiles, and decor, and how to work with swatches and samples to build a tactile "kit." You'll learn the difference between retail, "trade-only," and vintage sourcing. Finally, we'll cover the "magic" finishing touches: the practical steps for styling a bookshelf, a bed, or an entire room to make it look cohesive and professionally finished.

The Business of Shopping: Services & Monetization
This is the module where you turn your "eye" into an "invoice." You've mastered the theory of style; now you must learn how to package, price, and sell that skill as a professional service. We'll start by defining your service menu, turning abstract concepts like "closet help" into concrete, sellable packages. You'll learn the pros and cons of in-person services versus scalable virtual/e-styling. We'll then tackle the most critical business question: how to price your services, comparing hourly rates, flat-fee packages, and commission-based models. Finally, we'll cover the crucial ethics of sourcing, commissions, and affiliate links, as well as the fundamentals of invoicing and contracts to ensure you always get paid for your work.

The Sourcing & Delivery Process
This module focuses on the deliverable: the professional product you present to your client. After the consultation and sourcing, you must organize your ideas into a beautiful, coherent, and persuasive presentation. You'll learn how to create a professional "Lookbook" using accessible tools like Canva or PowerPoint to visually present your outfit or room concepts. We'll then focus on the specific format of E-Styling, learning how to create shoppable PDFs with embedded links, which is the primary deliverable for virtual clients. We'll also cover the logistics of in-person shopping, managing orders and tracking, the art of the in-home "unveiling" or installation, and the crucial process of handling returns and client feedback.

Building Your Professional Brand
This module is where you take your raw skills and forge them into a professional, marketable brand. A brand is not just a logo; it's your reputation, your promise, and the "feeling" a client gets when they work with you. First, we'll guide you through the critical process of finding your niche—the specialty that will set you apart from generalists and attract your ideal, high-paying client. You'll learn how to craft a compelling brand name, logo, and vibe. We'll cover the practical steps of building a portfolio from scratch (even if you have no clients yet) and writing a professional bio. Finally, we'll touch on the [Disclaimer: Not legal advice] essential legal foundations of registering your business and securing basic insurance.

Marketing, Operations & Scaling Your Business
This final module focuses on transforming your styling skills into a fully operational and scalable business. You'll learn the most effective, modern marketing techniques for a visual career, including how to leverage Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok to build an audience and showcase your "eye." We'll then cover the critical "analog" strategy of professional networking, teaching you how to build a referral-based business by partnering with realtors, boutiques, and builders. You'll learn the importance of your "little black book" of contacts. We'll also cover essential client management strategies for generating referrals, testimonials, and re-booking. Finally, we'll look to the future by discussing methods for scaling your business beyond just your own time, such as hiring assistants or creating digital products.
